As of 10:00am, three have died and 14 are injured in the early morning shooting on West 6th Street in Downtown Austin
AUSTIN, TEXAS — In response to the mass shooting which occurred in Downtown Austin on Sunday, March 1, Texas House Democrats issued the following statement:
“Last night, while Texans spent their Saturday night enjoying Austin’s nightlife, a gunman opened fire on West 6th Street. Families are waking up this morning without someone they love. Others are waiting at hospitals, not knowing. We’re grateful for the APD officers and first responders who acted to save lives in under a minute, and put themselves between a gunman and more victims. Their courage is the reason the death toll isn’t higher.
“Gun violence continues to steal the lives of far too many Texans. Our hearts are with the victims of today’s shooting and their families. We will never stop fighting for them.”
