Who We Are
The Texas House Democratic Caucus is 62 members strong. We represent communities across the state: the Rio Grande Valley, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, El Paso, Austin, San Antonio, and the growing suburbs in between.
We're one of the most diverse caucuses in state history. Teachers, lawyers, small business owners, veterans, parents, grandparents. What we share is simple: we believe government should work for regular Texans.
What We Fight For
We're champions for public schools. Texas has 5.4 million kids in public education, and we fight every session for full funding, competitive teacher pay, and the resources students need to succeed.
We're advocates for healthcare. We pushed for 12 months of postpartum Medicaid coverage for new moms and won. We keep fighting for Medicaid expansion, lower prescription costs, and real investment in rural healthcare.
We stand up for working families. Property tax relief that actually helps. A power grid that doesn't fail. Consumer protections that make life affordable for Texans.
And we show up for Texans who face attacks that others don't. Immigrant families. LGBTQ+ neighbors. Communities of color. We believe the state shouldn't target people for who they are.
What We Do
In the 89th session, Democrats introduced 40% of all House bills and passed hundreds of bills into law. We work across the aisle when we can, and fight when we have to, because that's how you actually get things done for people.
Between sessions, we're in our districts, meeting with constituents, and preparing for the fights ahead. 365 days a year, we're working for Texas families.
