JOINT STATEMENT: House Democratic Leaders Respond to TX Businesses’ Condemnation of Voting Rights Restrictions

(Austin, TEXAS) – Today, a broad coalition of companies and executives released a letter calling on elected leaders to support reforms making elections more accessible, and opposing any measures to restrict eligible voters’ right to vote.

Mexican American Legislative Caucus Chair Rafael Anchía (D-Dallas), Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair Chris Turner (D-Grand Prairie), Texas Legislative Black Caucus Chair Nicole Collier (D-Fort Worth) and Vice-Chair of the House Committee on Elections Jessica González (D-Dallas) issued the following joint statement in response:

“We are grateful to the dozens of advocacy groups, companies, chambers of commerce and business leaders who stand with us in our efforts to make voting as safe, easy and accessible as possible.

“We will oppose legislation that undermines democracy and erects arbitrary barriers for Texas voters.”
