ADVISORY: Texas Congressional Democrats Join Texas Legislative Caucus Leaders for Virtual Press Conference Urging Senate Passage of John Lewis Act

TEXAS/Washington, D.C. — Tuesday, October 26th at 12 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET, Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair Chris Turner (HD 101), Texas Legislative Black Caucus Chair Nicole Collier (HD 95), Mexican American Legislative Caucus Chair Rafael Anchía (HD 103) and Texas Legislative Study Group Chair Garnet Coleman (HD 147) will be joined by Members of the Texas Democratic Congressional Delegation for a virtual press conference urging Senate Republicans to end their obstruction and pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Leader Schumer announced his intention to bring the vital legislation to the Senate floor for a vote as soon as this week.

The Senate’s passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act will be pivotal to protecting Texans from the discriminatory GOP-led voting laws and redistricting schemes that have been pushed through by Republicans in the Texas State Legislature.
